AIMS OF RICHARD MAGILL FUND
(for our RMF leaflets, please see bottom of page)

To support those who are Deaf/British Sign Language (BSL) users and their carers by providing access to medical information and care when someone is at their end of life.  We also provide training to healthcare professionals, BSL/English interpreters, and Deaf Advocates.

Why?

We know that each of us has a one-in-four chance of being diagnosed with some form of cancer. Clearly, this can be a very distressing time, not only for the person receiving the diagnosis but also for their loved ones. This applies to deaf and hearing alike.

The Richard Magill Fund aims to provide deaf people from the beginning when they have been diagnosed with a terminal illness with accessible information in order for them to be able to fully understand their condition. This helps them to make informed decisions about their care.

The money raised will help to ensure equal access to the end of life care for Deaf/BSL users through training, communication support, awareness raising, and advocacy.
